What is the Grades page?
Each assignment and test you or your teaher adds to GradeMate appears in your Grades page. If you've created the course, you can add and edit the scores, points, and weight for every grade in your class.
How do I edit the score, points or weight for an assignment?
To edit the values for the score, points or weight, simply mouse over the field you wish to change and click it. A form will appear where you can edit the value.
Once you click outside of the field it will automatically save the new value you've entered.
What are the 'Recompute Total' and 'Refresh Grades' buttons?
When you edit the values for the score, points, or weight for an assignment the final grade or weights for other assignments may change. Clicking 'Recompute Total' will take all of the changes and show you the newly re-calculated total grade.
Clicking 'Refresh Grades' will refresh all of the values for the grades you're currently viewing.
Why are there values in the weight column for assignments if I didn't enter them?
When you create a course you have the option of setting up Assignment Types. You can set the weight for a particular assignment type (say, 40% for Homeworks) and GradeMate will recompute the weight for each assignment based on this value.
If you have 10 Homeworks so far and the weight for Homeworks is 40% total, then GradeMate will show 4% as the weight for each Homework assignment.
How can I set my own weight for an assignment if I've already set an assignment type weight?
Easily - just edit the assignment weight like you would normally. GradeMate will then use this weight as the assignment weight instead of the fraction of the total assignment type weight.
Now, every other assignment of that type will have a new weight based on the remainder of the assignment type weight. (Confused?)
For example: Say you have the assignment type Homework set to 40% as the assignment type weight. You also have 10 assignments labeled 'Homework'. GradeMate will compute each assignment to be 4%. Now, if you edit one of those Homework assignments to have the weight of 10%, GradeMate will use the remaining 30% of the Homework weight and divide it evenly among the remaining 9 assignments, so each of those 9 will now have the weight of 3.33%.
I've edited an assignment weight but I want to remove it and let GradeMate calculate its weight. What do I do?
Simply edit the assignment weight and save it as 0. This will let GradeMate recompute the weight based on the assignment type weight you have set.
